Your Hosts
Hazel Findlay
Hazel is world-famous for her bold and adventurous climbing. She was the first woman to climb a British trad route at E9, and the first British woman to sport climb 8c and free El Capitan in Yosemite, which she has now done four times. She has put up first ascents in many countries worldwide including big walls in Greenland. As a top mental training coach, Hazel specializes in helping people overcome fears and limitations so they can focus on the task at hand and perform at their best. As well as having deep water soloed in the UK, Oman, and Thailand, she famously helped Australian climber Angie Scarth-Johnson overcome her DWS fears in Mallorca in the Reel Rock film Yeah Buddy.
Angus Kille
Angus Kille is an MCI instructor/rock guide, coach, and semi-professional climber. He’s been climbing for 16 years and has climbed 9a sport climbs, V11 boulder, free-climbed El Capitan twice and climbed many E9 trad routes. In 2021, Hazel and Angus founded Strong Mind, a company focused on coaching and training products in fear management and performance psychology in climbing.
The Altitude team and several local guides will be there alongside Hazel and Angus to provide access to the best climbing locations, often not covered by guidebooks.

DON’T JUST TAKE
OUR
WORD FOR IT
In July 2024 we announced the first ever Altitude retreat. All seats sold out within 24 hours. A few months later we then welcomed the first group of attendees in Mallorca, here’s what just some of them said about their experience:
“This trip was awesome!! Climbing for 3 days with a stellar group of people. The team at Altitude goes above and beyond to make every moment the best it can be. They are organized and they know what climbers want. If your thinking about taking a climbing trip, Altitude is the team you can trust.”
Taylor L. (27, Utah, USA)
“If you’re even considering going on a retreat with Altitude, do it. You absolutely will not regret it. The Mallorca retreat with Chris Sharma was truly an unforgettable experience and allowed me to challenge myself in ways I never thought possible. I would do it again in a heartbeat.”
Sahlea T. (29, New Mexico, USA)
“This trip blew my expectations out of the water... The guides we worked with were fast, efficient, and very friendly as well which allowed us to make the most of the time we had to climb while also learning a lot about the areas through conversations in the cars, etc.
The villa we stayed at was one of the nicest places I've ever stayed (minus the see-through showers by the beds ;)) and the food was incredible! Chefs came in to cook for us, we went out to nice restaurants, and there were plenty of food/snacks for breakfast/lunch as well.
All the participants got along really well regardless of experience/skill level, culture, etc. Overall I was blown away by the experience and feel very blessed to have been a part of this trip. I would definitely recommend!”
DJ N. (33, California, USA)
“I loved being a part of this once-in-a-lifetime experience! It was so much fun trying deep water soloing for the first time with climbers from all around the world who are still united by their shared passion for climbing. I was honestly a bit apprehensive at first because of the cost of the retreat, but it was definitely worth it... The team of Altitude was also great - they were present and really accommodating during all of the retreat. Thank you again for this opportunity and making it a great experience!”
Marina W. (29, Germany)
“Altitude's first climbing retreat in Mallorca with Sharma and Magnus was incredible.
The whole retreat was like a dream.
I've been climbing for a little more than 10 years, and I can say without a doubt that this has been my favorite climbing experience... The Altitude staff curated a wonderful event, capturing the feel of Mallorca from the cuisine to the Finca where we all stayed. The pairing with excellent guides allowed us to really explore what the Island has to offer. Meeting the Altitude team and hanging out, climbing together and enjoying dinner was so fun. Staying in a gorgeous Finca with other climbers and getting to share experiences together was amazing. It was awesome meeting other people passionate about climbing and making new friendships. It truly felt like a dream come true.”
Brian L. (38, Texas, USA)
“I had an amazing time at the Mallorca retreat. It was so cool to meet and hang out with awesome climbers. The altitude team was so great, they really helped make the experience one to remember and were there to help with anything anyone needed. (Including getting me some deodorant because I ran out.) I would definitely love to join a future retreat with Altitude.”
Ryan M. (34, Texas, USA)
In Spring 2024, we filmed Hazel’s online course about overcoming your fear of falling. We invited a group of climbers to be part of the course and learn first-hand from Hazel and Angus. Here’s what they had to say about the experience:
“Working with Hazel and Angus is really great because they bring a relaxed attitude, which makes you, in turn, feel relaxed so that you can push yourself to fall higher, and be able to develop those skills, uh, in a nice, safe environment.”
Kyle O. (28, UK)
“Yeah, I really enjoyed working with them. They're both a very calm and collected couple who give really sort of concise advice and they take you through step by step and check in an awful lot, which I really appreciated. They kind of took me through it incrementally rather than throwing me in the deep end and seeing how I did.”
Emmy Y. (29, UK)
